Azhar Aslam is the current President of the British Association of Cosmetic Surgeons (BACS). Azhar trained in Surgery for ten years; out of which five and a half years was in Plastic Surgery in the NHS. Pursuing his chosen speciality of Plastic Surgery, he was awarded a scholarship by the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians, Glasgow, which took him to Louisiana, USA, for a Fellowship in 1996. He furthered his expertise in Cosmetic Surgery, training and working in America, Mexico and Germany, obtaining a Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons in 1999.

Azhar continued to work in the NHS, finally working as Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Countess of Chester Hospital in Chester, where he helped set up a specialist hand unit. He left the NHS in 2000 to work privately and has since built up a private Cosmetic Surgery practice and a Health Village in Harley Street, London. Azhar works from other clinics located across the UK as well. He has worked actively with the Department of Health, IHA and expert groups to improve the regulation of the cosmetic surgery industry. He has worked as panel advisor to the European Academy for Cosmetic Surgery and as Academic Secretary of the British Association of Cosmetic Surgeons, recently becoming President.

Consultant Surgeon in Trauma & Orthopaedics

Fahad G. Attar is a consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics, specialising in lower limb arthroplasty, knee and shoulder reconstruction surgery and sports medicine.

He is fellowship trained in lower limb arthroplasty, knee reconstruction surgery, sports medicine and joint preservation surgery from world-renowned centres; the Nuffield Orthopaedic centre in Oxford, the Holland Orthopaedic centre, Sunnybrook hospital in Toronto, Canada and at Wrightington hospital here in the UK.

He has a particular interest and expertise in managing young adult arthritis, cartilage injuries and sports-related injuries. He uses innovative, cutting edge, evidence-based biological regenerative therapy options to treat and manage joint pain and sports injuries. These treatment modalities utilise the body’s own healing potential to resolve pain and symptoms and also help in delaying or avoiding any major surgery. These biological treatment therapies include; stem cell therapy, PRP (platelet rich plasma) therapy and APS (autologous protein solution) therapy. All the treatment options are driven by results and patient outcomes measures.

Mr Attar also performs patient-specific knee replacements for osteoarthritis, ligament reconstructions such as ACL reconstructions and cartilage reconstruction procedures.

He is well published and has been involved in ongoing clinical and lab-based research right through his training and fellowship years and this has culminated in numerous peer-reviewed publications and numerous oral and poster peer-reviewed presentations in both national and international meetings. He is currently involved in numerous ongoing research projects with biological therapy treatments. He is also a reviewer and editorial board member for peer-reviewed journals.

He also a long-standing interest in disaster medicine and management and is currently on the UK International Emergency Trauma Register which deploys doctors in response to international disasters.
